The Official Stuff
Rooted in authenticity, my therapy style is relational, collaborative, and tailored to the individual. I specialize in working with stress, burnout, and trauma for all ages. The foundation of my therapeutic work is centered around knowledge about interpersonal neurobiology, attachment science, systems work, childhood development, and integrating the body into treatment. As such, I am a great tool during times of big life transitions and for support working through complex or developmental trauma.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), which means that in addition to having my LPC, I am also a supervisor of other therapists. I am Licensed in both Texas and Tennessee and offer in-person and virtual therapy in Texas and virtual therapy in Tennessee. My broad range of specializations allows me to help each person with a customized approach, using a variety of therapeutic options so that we can find the best fit for them in their current season of life. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University and completed my B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University with a minor in History. Taking the clinical psychology path to counseling instilled in me a deep understanding and respect for the science and research behind why we do what we do in the therapy room. I have been lucky enough to receive advanced specialized training in Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) with Dan Siegel and Bonnie Badenoch, who are widely thought of as some of the greatest minds in the field. This experience and knowledge of the brain and nervous system, paired with my anatomical and physiological background from yoga teaching, somatic training, and other courses allow me to help navigate and explain the stress response system to my clients. This foundation for therapy that targets the roots of the patterns of chronic stress or internalized trauma is what I believe really creates lasting changes for my clients.
With over 10 years of experience working with adults, teens, children, and parents in many diverse settings I have helped people navigate stressful chapters of life and heal or manage past traumas. Prior to entering into private practice, I gained priceless experiences working in a Child Advocacy Center, a sexual assault resource center, substance abuse recovery programs, a residential home for at-risk youth, an international domestic violence shelter, childcare and other deeply formative environments. I have found that my experience has been particularly helpful for people struggling with burnout, new moms preparing or recovering from birth, parents wanting to improve their relationship with their kids, young adults navigating boundaries and family conflicts, and survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. While most of my experience has been state-side, parts were gained while living abroad and working internationally which has fostered my experience working with international transplants and the expat community as well.
My Heart for this Work
I believe therapy is about moving towards healing and growth as we learn to really trust ourselves. The absolute best thing about being a therapist is getting to empower and witness for others as they become cycle-breakers and make lasting changes in their lives. I love to help people deconstruct their “old learning” and discover new ways of being in the world that are more honoring of the person they truly are. I know that each person I work with is doing the best they can and it is such a privilege to get to come alongside them and help them live a more fulfilling life.
The Unofficial Stuff
When I am not in the office, you can find me spending time in nature with my husband, our two children, and our goldendoodle Gus (my other child!). I am an outdoorsy plant-nerd who loves to go hiking, camping, scuba diving, and practice yoga. While at home, you can find me in my garden and reading (or listening to an audiobook) while fussing over our backyard chickens. However, above the rest, the thing that brings me the deepest joy is traveling internationally with my friends and family. I have been lucky enough to live periods of my life overseas which still holds a big part of my heart, as well as, some of my dearest friends. All of these things, and spending time with loved ones are the cornerstones of how I take good care of myself so that I can take good care of you!
